IT worker Luke D’Wit was convicted guilty of using fentanyl to kill an Essex couple

The use of the powerful narcotic fentanyl in the murder of a couple has been discovered to be the responsibility of an IT worker. The allegations against Luke D’Wit include the murder of Stephen Baxter, who was 61 years old, and Carol Baxter, who was 64 years old, as well as the rewriting of their will in order to assume control of their shower mat and bathroom company.

He is alleged to have portrayed himself to the couple as “almost like a son” to them. The individual, who is 34 years old and hails from Mersea, worked for them. On Easter Sunday of the previous year, the Baxters were found at their residence on Mersea Island in Essex because their daughter had made the discovery. According to Harry Baxter, their son, D’Wit engaged in “foul games” with his mother, including tormenting and drugging her, in the time leading up to the deaths of his parents.

In a statement that was distributed by Essex Police, Mr. Baxter stated that he had already lost his mother “a long time ago” prior to the discovery of his parents’ bodies.

“I refer to the day Luke began his foul games torturing and drugging her,” he explained to reporters. “Unbeknownst to me, I had already lost my mother a long time ago.”When I see the recordings of her when she was behaving in an odd manner and see him in the background laughing and smiling, I am filled with a profound sense of melancholy. I am aware that he is the one who is subjecting us to this suffering because we were all dolls in his dollhouse, and we were all victims of his manipulation.

“Our life will forever be punctured by the gravity of his actions.”

In an earlier statement to the Chelmsford Crown Court, the daughter of the Baxters stated that although they “got along” with D’Wit, they all felt he was “weird.” According to Ellie Baxter, he was initially invited in to assist in the construction of a website; nonetheless, he ended up arriving at the house “every day” and finally assisting her mother in taking her medication.

She stated to the jury that D’Wit was aware of the location of a key safe as well as the pin code that was used to unlock the gate of their property. Doorbell camera footage recorded him heading towards the Baxters’ house and looking at a phone two days before the deaths were discovered, according to the testimony presented during the trial.

In front of the court, prosecutor Tracy Ayling posed the question, “Was he watching them die?” She concluded by asking: “Was this when Mr D’Wit made everything pristine, cleaning up the cups and not leaving any trace?” The remains of Mr. and Mrs. Baxter were discovered to have fentanyl, which is an extraordinarily potent opioid that is approximately one hundred times more potent than morphine.

On Wednesday, after a third day of deliberations, the jury reached a unanimous decision of conviction for D’Wit, who had disputed the charge of murder throughout the course of the trial, which had lasted for more than a month. Within the confines of the court’s guarded dock, the defendant, who had been confined to a wheelchair throughout the entirety of the trial, did not appear to react. Mr. Justice Nicholas Lavender, the judge, stated that he will proceed with the sentencing of D’Wit on Friday.
